The APTA released the above study "The Economic Value of Physical Therapy in the United States."
Why is this important to you ?
It is a report regarding choosing PT “over alternative treatments.”
Physical Therapy is about:
Avoiding complications from surgery (eg. being able to actually straighten your knee and walk normally after a knee replacement; being able to return to sport minimizing risk of re-tearing a repaired ACL, patellar tendon, Achilles tendon, etc)
REDUCE recovery time (what is the value of your time and feeling good while living your life ?!)
Avoid the risks of overuse of certain medications (physical therapists absolutely support the appropriate use of prescribed medication - the idea here is to reduce the need for it - less pain, less medication…)
For the 8 conditions analyzed, this is how much money was SAVED per condition by utilizing Physical Therapy.
Let’s break it down:
Did you see savings of $39,533 for carpel tunnel syndrome?!
Shouldn’t this be on the news ?!
How about $13,981 for arthritis in the knee ? And, please, understand if you’re over 50 (sometimes younger), you have arthritis in your knee. Now, whether you have pain or not is a whole different matter.
Let’s save tens of thousands of dollars, together !
Our Meaning:
I believe in the warmth of coffee and tea and community. This is a place where we are integrating yoga and physical therapy to meet RVA's needs to heal from an injury then work to prevent reinjury, together.
