At one of the rare times I made it out to Open Mic one night, after I sang, a guitarist pulled me aside as I walked by and said, “you owe it to the world to share that voice.”
That has stuck with me. However, I tend to only share my voice with my children and with you, my students.
It makes me wonder how many people out there can sing, I mean rock your socks off sing, and the only people who hear them are their babies?
We talk about hiding our secrets, our sins, our darkness. What about those with incredible talents that are just not public ? I like to think about that. I love to listen to music and be in awe.
It makes me glad to be alive; it makes me feel like there is something inherently beautiful in this universe. Then, I think about how many hidden treasures are there that I don’t see? That are not publicized?
That makes me feel even better. There’s hidden beauty, talent out there where you or I see can’t it. We can’t control it. It’s just there, shining away.
I love that.
Our Meaning:
I believe in the warmth of coffee and tea and community. This is a place where we are integrating yoga and physical therapy to meet RVA's needs to heal from an injury then work to prevent reinjury, together.
